Here's a couple of pics from the next chapter I already posted on Facebook. This shows my new approach to coloring. The new technique is more time consuming but it looks cleaner. Gone are the days of the splotchy colors from the last chapter. Let us never speak of those splotchy days again.
In 7 days the full version of Chapter Three will be posted. It will almost be worth the wait. I'm liking how the second half is looking. I've been working on improving my coloring technique. It doesn't quite have the level of quality I'd like. I felt the coloring of the first half of Chapter Three was a little sloppy. It might work with the hectic feel of whats happening in the story, and fit with the loose pencils, but its still not where I want it to be. One thing I'm trying out is more subtle gradients in the colors. For example, see the below versions of the page with the T Rex in the end zone. The first is my original post, the second uses a more varying gradient of color. I've updated the page with the new version. Anyway, be here next week for the full Chapter update!
Check these out: My man Frank took his 3D dinosur space ships to the next level. We had a discussion on how these ships work and he cranked these renders out. The details are aweseome, from the hole for the tail, to the levers, to the holes in the exhaust piping that you'll find out what they're for in the next chapter. Anyway, enjoy.
Here's another partially colored in panel for the next chapter. The hair color is a little different from other shots of Molly, but its better. I'm sticking with this sandy blonde color. Also, I used color to put more of an emphasis on her freckles. I like it. For some reason the freckles really emphasize her cute yet tough personality.
Here's the first panel of Chapter Three. Dinosaurs unleash on the football stadium and chaos ensues. In fact, Jenny is saying in this scene, "This. Is. Bananas!" I've just started to color it in. Started with the dinoship. Should be moving on to the next page by this weekend.
Here's another look at Chapter Four. This pic went through several iterations before I was happy. Some versions were zoomed out a little more. Pics this close in have to look right. Any mistake on a face is very unforgiving. But zooming in this close capures the intensity. And their anger. Why are they so mad? You'll find out in Chapter Four!
