Check these out: My man Frank took his 3D dinosur space ships to the next level. We had a discussion on how these ships work and he cranked these renders out. The details are aweseome, from the hole for the tail, to the levers, to the holes in the exhaust piping that you'll find out what they're for in the next chapter. Anyway, enjoy.
Here's another partially colored in panel for the next chapter. The hair color is a little different from other shots of Molly, but its better. I'm sticking with this sandy blonde color. Also, I used color to put more of an emphasis on her freckles. I like it. For some reason the freckles really emphasize her cute yet tough personality.
Here's the first panel of Chapter Three. Dinosaurs unleash on the football stadium and chaos ensues. In fact, Jenny is saying in this scene, "This. Is. Bananas!" I've just started to color it in. Started with the dinoship. Should be moving on to the next page by this weekend.
Here's another look at Chapter Four. This pic went through several iterations before I was happy. Some versions were zoomed out a little more. Pics this close in have to look right. Any mistake on a face is very unforgiving. But zooming in this close capures the intensity. And their anger. Why are they so mad? You'll find out in Chapter Four!
Its been awhile since an update. (Computer trouble, plus recovering from lack of sleep) Thought I'd make up for it with a picture from Chapter Four: Cheerleaders in a Dog Pile in front of a T-Rex. My sneek peeks have had more cheerleaders and dinosaurs than robots. Thats because they're more fun to look at, and what happens with the robots I'm trying to keep secret. Some surprises coming up I don't want to spoil!
While I have one more page to color for chapter two before my Halloween deadline, I let myself get a little distracted by this drawing. Couldn't help it. Once I started, I had to perfect it. For a while, I wanted to do a picture with Molly facing down a T Rex. I finally got the right pose with this one. I'm going to try to color this in and get it on a T Shirt before the no shipping fee weekend, and somehow not fall behind schedule. While drawing this, I realized I should explain early on that these are college cheerleaders. It would seem a little creepy if these were high school cheerleaders, and college fit better than pro NFL cheerleaders. Each girl has a major that fits her story:
Molly: Buisiness
Nikki: Computer Science
Amber: PHD in quantum physics, working on psychology degree (seriously)
Jenny: Political Science
Ashley: undeclared
One of them didn't fit into the composition. Can you tell which one?
The coloring process is humming along. Just finished page three of chapter two. Here's panel one:

Bear with me here, this is a story with a bunch of pictures...
First I started on coloring the spaceship for the second page of Chapter two:
I liked where this was going. Check out the dinosaur's tail. I liked the look of the thick pencils with the colors laid down over it. I wanted to keep the momentum going with this. I finished it up, keeping the background colors more subdued and the foreground (the girls) more vivid.
Once I was done, I realized this turned out a lot better than how page one of chapter two did. (see previous blog entry) The mistake I made before was trying to color everything with the same amount of fidelity. The subject of the picture (cheerleader) shouldn't be drowned out by whats going on in the background. (I'm still figuring out this coloring thing) I was a little ahead anyway, so I recolored the first page again. Here's the result: the top half again of page one. Compare this to the previous entry. I think this one is a lot better. Once again the goal is to give Molly the presentation she deserves:
Just finished coloring the first page of chapter two. Here's the top half of it for your viewing pleasure. Just wait till you see what she's saying. As I posted a while back, Molly here was based on Katee Sackhoff's Starbuck and my wife. Once I drew this picture of her though, she took a life of her own, and Facebook discussions ensued regarding wether or not my wife actually has freckles. I still might tweek this picture a little. I don't want to fall behind schedule trying to perfect it. I just wish I had a professional colorist to do her justice, and for that matter a professional artist and writer to fill in for me until I then fired them for not sticking to my original vision.
